Do I have to give up rice and roti to improve my health?

Not necessarily. For most people the bigger levers are how much of it you eat, what it is eaten with, and how active you are afterwards.

Pairing rice or roti with dal, vegetables and curd, eating the vegetables and protein first, and taking a short walk after a meal are practical changes that many people find easier to keep than cutting a food out completely.

If you have diabetes, a thyroid condition or another long-term problem, ask your doctor or dietitian what suits you. A plan that fits your reports and your routine is the one that lasts.
